    How things,

I need to get a wired internet connection to my TV and have a few questions

I could run a Ethernet cable from my modem down the house to the TV. This is a pain to do but Im thinking it could be the better long term solution.

Secondly I could get a set of wifi home plugs which will save me from running the cable down but how good are they and is there many problems with this set up.

I also have a Ethernet cable run halfway up the house that I'm not using anymore and was thinking of using a cable coupler to join that one with a new cable to run the rest of the house.

I'm stuck between the 3 options, does any one have any experience with this and what might be the best solution. I would like o have the internet connection as good as possible

why not just go with a wireless adapter for the tv... there are plenty of them around.... as you said its a pain.. but why not run an ethernet cable down through the walls with a connection point on the wall behind the tv.....sureley it wouldnt take that long

You could try homeplugs. If you do, then make sure the socket at the modem is in the same circuit as the socket at the tv.

The more I think about, I'll just run a wire down the house. I was thinking a wireless adapter but need a good steady connection and afraid I might lose it sometimes.

Thanks for the tip, I've just seen that you cant really use extension leads either and im kind of stuck using one too.

Think I'll send a wire down the house apart from the initial hassle it shouldnt cause any problems

    Cheers for the help

I wonder if the extension leads with home plugs is a bit of a myth. I have 3 in my house.

    1. On extension lead with the router
    2. On extension lead with sky box and ps3, and raspberry pi
    3. On extension lead with Xbox and skybox

No connection issues and all downloads on all platforms work fine

Op, it's really up to you and your situation in the house, I got fed up with wifi and neighbours started having a channel war with me.( I'd change to channel 3 thy change, then 12 they'd change, interference was pissing me off)
So I got a cheep set of cable pullers of amazon, thing they were 20€, and as the house had phone sockets in each rooms it was easy to run the cables with the phone cable to the rooms I wanted. Cheap tplink switches where I needed them and a ubiquity wifi ac acess point. (Hard to get but, and not cheap but worth it IMO)
A days work and I don't have to change anything for the next 2 years.
Rock solid connection in every room on wifi and gigabit LAN in 2 bedrooms the kitchen and sitting room.
