    Hey folks,

I'm looking for a PS2 NTSC console. Anyone know anywhere that may possibly have one or the best place to look out for one?

There is a few on ebay, but the postage and import costs make it pretty expensive.

Any off chance of someone knowing anywhere where I could get one for a decent price. I know it'd be rare for anyone in Ireland/Europe to have them.

Sorry for the sort of random thread.

    Thanks!

There's a few on eBay.co.uk on auction, use parcel motel and you might get one delivered for around the 40 quid mark.

Best thing to watch out for is a TEST PS2.
These look just like a regular original PS2, but with the word TEST on the side instead of PS2.
The PAL version plays every region game right out of the box, and they're fantastic.
Both myself and Kerbdog, another poster in these parts, have one each and they're fantastic, I can import from all over and it all works, my collection of some 250 PAL games work great, as does the likes of my Jap copy of Ibara and my US copy of Raiden III.

    The downside, the price.
You're probably looking at around €150 for one of these.
However, if you are a lover of the format, as I am, then it's worth every penny, and it's less than half the price of the PS4, so go for it!

Here's one on Ebay at the mo link

If I had a spare 150 euro I'd forked out for it,I'm a lover of RPGs and soooo many from the ps2 era were never released over here.

I'd look into getting the PS2 chipped or doing a free mcboot mod.

Chipping the PS2 is very difficult so you'll need someone that knows what they are doing, might be hard to find someone but you could check the console modding forum.

Free mcboot is much easier to do and is a soft mod so no need to solder or open the PS2. With free mcboot you can put games on a hard disk and play them from that. It has the benefit of reducing load times as well. It won't however let you play import PS1 games as far as I know but I could be wrong.
