Shops "swiping" my credit card, before putting it into chip&pin machine

Was in a well known DIY store this evening, and was paying for my purchases. Handed over my credit card and the lady swiped it on something on the till before putting it into the chip&pin device where I proceeded to enter my PIN. It's only dawning me on me now how strange this was, as all the places I usually use my CC (Lidl/Aldi/Tesco/etc) just let me put it straight into the device with the keypad. Should I expect copious amounts of pornography to be purchased on my credit card now, or is this normal?

I noticed last week in a shop I didn't have to enter any PIN at all.
Just stuck the card in the machine and that was it.
    Is this a new thing?

    Her bum?

7/10, a moderately attractive bum. We're not talking Kylie or Beyonce here, but definitely an acceptable level.

No, you should still just see your normal pornography charge apply.

She'd be the worst skimmer ever if she has the skimming device on the counter and does it in front of you. Wouldn't take the greatest police minds in history to trace that back.

I seen this in new look earlier, I assumed it was some way for them to match up the card transaction to the sale.

Or she could be a criminal mastermind.

Like the episode of father ted where he kicks bishop len up the arse.

If I was trying to skim peoples credit cards, I would make it very obvious with a huge skimming device and do it in front of the customers eyes. It's so unbelievable that well.. you wouldn't believe it.. dya get me man?

New look always do this, and they do it after you do the whole chip and pin so you go to take your card out and then they take it off you to swipe it, always wondered what it was for.

That was either B&q or woodies, neither of which is a skimmer. Both of which are dopey. Skim, chip and pin -all a mystery to them.

yes, saw that ages ago in, could have been one of the electrical stores. Asked what was going on, answer was something to do with their internal systems on one machine and cc charge on another. Still phishy.

Woodies been at it for years. Their till systems have a swipe to keep a record and then the pin machine separate. Nothing strange other than a really primative epos setup.

That's fine for the actual act of doing it. But not much use when people start looking in to it. First person t check CCTV and your done. Theres a reason (good) criminals are sneaky.

Woodies do this all the time, it's just the till they use. No need to withold the name of the store here, they're not doing anything wrong :)
