Casual work and means tested Jobseeker's Allowance

I've recently been offered casual work having been on jobseekers for a few months previous
We have 3 kids on our claims
My partner and I claimed separately which meant we received €200 each

My casual work consists of a day here and there, mostly 1 a week, my pay works out at €80 for the day, having had the means test forms filled in it came back that I would be deducted €36 for every day that I work which is fine

However when I went in today I was told that the max I could receive was now €120, this was also the case for my partner, so in total we'd get €240 if I didn't work any days during the Jobseeker's Allowance week

What I want to know is why have they taken €80 off each of our claims
For instance last week I worked 1 day making it €80 from work, €120 collected by my partner and a €120 cheque sent out to me which totals €320 which is €80 less than what we'd receive if I wasn't working

3 different inspectors in the social welfare office weren't able to explain this to me
Can anyone shed any light on this please or have they made a mistake somewhere down the line

There is something very wrong with that. If you just had one claim you would have a combined payment of €402.20 less €36 for one day worked leaving you with a payment of €366.20 plus your €80 from work totals €446.20. You need to go back in to them. I think is is a miscalculation somewhere along the line.

I did today, I talked to 4 different people and 3 of them hadn't a clue and one tried to say the €80 taken off each of our claims was means

I think they have messed up and it might be easier to change it all back into one claim

They have messed up because €80 is the figure you get for a days work and when you calculate means for this its €36 per day. If you do decide to go back to one claim make sure that they are not deducting €80. It would make sense for you to keep up the claim and get your OH as and ada and have the full rate cda as nobody will have to be signing every month all you have to do is hand in your dockets every week and a cheque will issue to you which can be cashed at the post office.

Yeah I've been on the dockets before as a single person and €36 was deducted from €188 for everyday I worked, I just dnt understand why they've deducted €80 from each of us saying €120 each is the max we can get

Someone has messed up the max pay situation.
