Now taking submissions for the aforementioned agenda(s) - there does seem to be an overlap.

    Items for the agenda(s)?
Eating biscuits and the right to put pineapple on pizza are obvious examples.

Can we ensure that political correctness continues to go mad? Simply annoyed is not enough, it must go mad.

We need a LARGE set of floodgates. How else will we swamp the plain and daycent folk of Ireland with gay marriage and abortions?

I always thought it was a brigade not an agenda. A rainbow coloured liberal pc brigade that go around extinguishing people's fun.

I'd like to propose a motion to stifle debate in the areas of homophobia, sexism, racism, and religion please.

We need an urgent assessment of the slipperiness of any and all slopes.

I think we need to establish a sub-comittee to determine the exact tips of any icebergs

I think talk about tips is off topic and discriminatory against transgender people. Can we please have less of this hatespeak?

I'm tired of pushing the liberal agenda at my advanced years. I suggest we motorise it, so that all I have to do is steer it. Maybe put brakes on it and grippy tyres for the slippery slopes.

On that note, a working group should be established to organise and print up itineraries and running times for the bandwagons we jump on.

    I retract my earlier statement.

Can we call it maybe The Committee to Establish Glacial Altitude*

I think that a working group should be set up to establish that the working group for bandwagon jumping conforms to the strict guidelines in terms of gender, race and age quotas put in place by the quota guidelines working group.

I vote we make the bandwagons amphibious to mitigate any risk of inadvertent proximity to open floodgates.

I motion for the removal of the right to pineapple on pizza, on the grounds that healthy and unhealthy food should not meet.

On a point of order (through the chair) - we haven't even discussed the slipperiness (or otherwise) of the slopes yet.

Oh, I think we're doing SO well! Group hug everyone, and I think we could stop soon for a cup of ethically sourced caffeine free tea, with the hand-baked GMO free biscuits by that worthy group of debriefed child-soldiers from the Congo.

Not very diabetic/coeliac friendly ...and is that cow's milk for the tea????

Are there eggs in those biscuits? Do we have an affidavit from the hens confirming they are well cared for and provide eggs as a lifestyle choice????

We obviously need a sub-committee to deal with the ethics of snacking - it will need to compile a comprehensive list of acceptable food stuffs!

    Now...is anyone wearing leather?

AND - as worthy as those Congolese children may be can we justify the air miles? Surely we can source locally produced GMO free, naturally sweetened, gluten free biscuits?

Too many children are being thought of. We need to find a way to minimise that.

Can I ask? How much pandering to this Liberal/Gay/PC agenda will be required? I feel the steering committee need to clarify the required amounts before we can get going. We wouldn't want to unintentionally make anyone feel excluded because they didn't have sufficient pandering skills.

I second that - May I propose we have a pandering workshop?

Which should be the priority: forcing everyone to have an abortion, or forcing everyone to get gay married? It can't be both!

Whichever one affects men most. The MRA guys are getting a bit restless in the corner so we need to rile them up a bit more.

Well i think first and foremost that the foetus should be allowed choose the sexual orientation of their abortionist*

*If the abortionist conforms to any societal labeling.

Proposal to put to the membership:

Everyone must gay marry a lesbian, but only after she has fornicated and aborted a baby.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 837 ✭✭✭Going Strong

Will marriage be restricted only to gay people in order to redress the balance of centuries of repression by heterosexual-only marriage? I feel that such a sensible policy is the only way forward.

Hmmmm... as marriage is essentially a hetro-normative State sanctioned intrusion on the privacy of the citizen (and all who dwell in the land regardless of their possession of 'documents') and is having a severe impact on Gay Cultcha should we not consider banning it outright?

I don't think such proscriptive terms being used around a person's gender are AT ALL helpful Banna. We must try and avoid the slippery slope questions for a while longer.

Of course, whatever you wish. I don't want to oppress you by holding an opinion that may differ from your own. That's how wars start.

May I suggest we adopt monthly naming conventions to rebrand our movement any time the current name becomes too mainstream. This will allow us to distance ourselves from certain groups while also remaining cool up and up to date. Inclusive while exclusive.

I apologise for my lack of clarity- people are of course free to gay marry any one of any gender or none from the island of Lesbos even if they are being hetro-normative.

Have we determined how we are going to determine the incline of the slippery slopes?

I am concerned that should we offer it out to tender we will be inundated by 'engineers' with their privileging of state endorsed 'education' over life experience...

I hate to bring this up but your post has been thanked. I feel that this creates a hierarchy based on popularity and nothing more. Now, while I'm sure that you're quite the level-headed type and won't let such fame affect you, I feel that such behaviour may give rise to committee members implementing populist policies merely for kudos' sake.

I'd ask for this to be nipped in the bud, but that would be a terrible thing to do as we all know that plants can feel pain.

Again, may I clarify that was not a 'thanks' but an indication that I acknowledge that comrade Obliq raised a valid point in highlighting your possession of a skill set that is beneficial to the movement.

Unfortunately, the crypto-fascist parameters laid down by the capitalist 'owners' of this medium do not permit any other methodology for acknowledging comprehension of an individual's contribution.

In that case, I withdraw my comment and will instead thank Gaia that we've managed to avert World War Three yet again.

I think though, as you stated above, "thanking" anything could be a bad move and may contribute to the genesis of an environment we do not feel comfortable working in.

Also, we do not want to be seen as championing any one ancient diety personifying the Earth.

I'd like to thank you for your observation though Going Strong, and indeed it's subsequent withdrawal. Jealousy has indeed become an issue whenever I put myself forward, and far be it from me to indiscriminately tread on the EQUALLY valid opinions of those less well endowed in the skills of (how shall I say?) informed and reasoned policy making.

I am as concerned as you that this question will give rise to the sidelining of the experience of people who may as yet be unaware that the slippery slopes form both a real difficulty in defining an issue, and a metaphor for toppling the hierarchy from it's pedestal. I believe it's a question of approach, and not expertise. In other words, I think we should tender proposals on how to approach the slopes well before agreeing on who should tackle them.

Have we determined the means of propulsion yet... or even discussed the formation of a sub-committee to discuss how we determine how to determine the means of propulsion?
