Broadband in Galway

    Hi everyone,

New to Boards and hoping someone can help me with a couple of questions on broadband in Galway?

Currently based in Oranmore and our business used Eircom Broadband (speeds up to 12MB). We're looking to switch Broadband providers and have been offered 24MB from O2 and up to 70MB from Vodafone.

Wondering if anyone has any experience in the area of broadband suppliers, or from using O2 or Vodafone for Broadband? Vodafone said they will install fibre optic cable to get better download speeds but not sure I believe we'd benefit from 70MB.

    Any thoughts?

O2 24Mb business is eircom. If you get 12 from eircom and thats not a limitation of the package you're on then you'll only get 12 from o2 also.

Vodafone wont be putting fibre into the premises, just a new socket, its VDSL (or efibre if you get it from eircom).

Thanks, ED E. Will Vodafone's fibre broadband be more powerful, do you know? Or will speeds be similar?

When we last looked into Broadband (about a year ago), nobody in the area was able to get speeds over a 3-4Mb. I don't want to sign up to something, only to find out higher speeds aren't really possible.

As ED-E points out it's all exactly the same thing and all the providers will deliver exactly the same speeds only difference really is price.

If you can get VDSL(efibre) then maybe you'll get a bump in speeds but again they'll all be delivering identical speeds
