Sigma 24-105 f4

Anybody using one of these?

There is no shortage of reviews online, all of which are very good, but a search of my usual photography forums returns an eerie silence when I go looking for actual user experiences!

Currently using a Tamron 28-75 f2.8. But I could do with a bit more reach and don't need the 2.8 aperture (I'm mostly in a studio at f8-f11)

I'm considering this against the Nikon 24-120 f4 and there is a major price difference. In fact Conns has the Sigma priced at close to online prices. Which in itself suggests it's not selling so well. People sticking the Nikon/Canon offerings?

I'd be using this on a DX body so I'd also be concerned about the sheer size & weight of these lenses, particularly the Sigma. But that's something I can check out in the shop.

I'll probably be picking up this lens myself soon enough. I'll be using it for video mostly. Most of the pixel peeping reviews seem to favour the Sigma over the Canon version, not sure of the Nikon equivalent.

There's a few comparison videos on Youtube that are worth watching.

I tried it out in Conns today. Not bad at all. Not nearly as unwieldy as I expected on my D90 with battery grip. Got a few quick shots to take home & pixel peep.

I bought the 24-105 today. So far it's frickin' awesome.

So far it's only pics of the writing on the front of my washing machine. Although they're taken at 1/5th of a second handheld @105mm & f/4
