I've a 3 year old Renault Fleunce which has a 5 year warranty. I was wondering does anybody know if get the car serviced by a non Renault garage will that affect the warranty. I can't find any T&C's online to confirm this.

You can AFAIK with any VAT registered company using the proper parts, oil, etc. However, having owned a number of Renaults I would do my best to keep it within the dealer network while under warranty. This will help if you ever do have a warranty claim. The last thing you want is to give them any reason to weasel out of a claim.

Agree with Stallingrad, also have a 3yr old Fluence, recently got it serviced at a Renault Dealer, €280, nothing out of the ordinary had to be done except got new wiper blades which they charge about €45/50 for. Give a few of them a call for a price.

AFAIK the extended portion of the warranty is covered by a separate company (i.e. Renault buy the warranty from them); they MAY require Renault servicing.

Thanks for the replies. I was quoted 280 a service by a Renualt garage, I can get it for 150 in a garage close to me which saves on the cost and the hassle of actually getting to the Renault garage.

By the sounds of things I'm better off sticking with the Renault Garage though despite the extra hassle and cost.

Try and get a quote from another Renault dealer, they are not beyond competing with each other.

I did get one service done on the Fluence by a non Renault dealer, it was a Main dealer though, former Renault so would have been familiar with the model & specific oil grade required.

Is the €150 price a main dealer price? if it is make sure they use the correct grade oil,

    It's this place:

I work just beside it and a lot of the lads in the office have used them and never had any problems.

I wouldnt bring my 3yr old Fluence there personally but I dont know the place either. I will stick with a main dealer, preferably Renault while it is still under warranty

I have checked this with 3 or more Renault garages.

You must use genuine Renault parts and Renault say it must be done by a SIMI reg garage.

There are other garages that will say
    European Block Exemption Legislation

allows them to service any warrantied car

Renault claim a 2nd service requires 2 hours labour (80 euro per hour) fuel filter and oil and oil filter, and comprehensive check. This is a rip off. They do not remove wheels to check brakes or discs only inspect. And if you look at their blurb they say they do a FREE 25 point check

    25 Point Check Includes:

    • Full Body Inspection
    • Engine Oil
    • Brake Fluid
    • Coolant
    • Power Steering Circuit
    • Front/Rear Windscreen Washer
    • Side Lights
    • Indicators/Hazard Lights
    • Dipped/Main Headlights
    • Reversing/Stop Lights
    • Front/Rear Fog Lights
    • Wiper Blade/Rear Wash
    • Condition Of Front/Rear Shock Absorbers
    • Tyre Wear/Condition
    • Adjusted Tyre Pressures
    • Exhaust
    • Condition/External Leaks In Brake System
    • Condition Of Drive Shaft Bellows
    • Condition Of All Seat Belts
    • Horn
    • Mounting Of Bumpers
    • Windscreen
    • Advice On Timing Belt
    • Rear View Mirrors
    • Operation Of Doors And Windows

ring around and do not be afraid to haggle

If it is 30000 km between services 280 euro seems to be ok 15000 km is 150 euro for vw golf. Synthetic oil is very expensive...

The 2 year standard warranty will be covered by block exemption once Renault parts are used but the extended warranty may be limited to it being always serviced at a Renault main dealer.

That looks interesting if it's correct about the warranty, price is 164 including collection and drop off of car.
