    Hi there,

I have a friend out there who is due to renew her third provisional driving licenase for her car.

She told me she heard she needs to book a full driving test to RSA before she can apply to renew her third provisional license. Since she has three kids and one of them is an infant so she can't go for driving lesson / driving test this year?

Do you have any idea she can renew her third provisional driving licenase without booking Full driving test to RSA?

    Thanks.

Book test. Get licence. Cancel test.

What's the point in cancelling? They don't refund you they just give you another date.

Is there any particular number of times you can cancell / reschedule the full driving test?

    Thanks.

If she genuinely cant make the test what choice does she have?

Is there really no way that she could organize a couple of hours to take the driving test?

You can only cancel 2 or 3 times and then the fee is forfeited.

Well, if she can't get the time to do a test, what time does she have to drive accompanied?

Presumably the driver with a full license, who accompanies her at all times when she drives, could mind the childer when she is doing the test?

She only has to book it to renew and realistically it sounds as if she has never taken a test. My brother was the same although his licence was technical, he never actually drove. Eventually he started driving, took a test and passed first time (bastard).

You have to book a driving test when renewing your provisional licence for the third time. However, you can defer/cancel the test up to three times before you have to take it or lose your fee. I deferred mine over the phone and the woman I spoke to was very helpful, let me defer it for months and months to a date that suited me. My driving instructor also offered to write a letter for me, to say that I wasn't ready to take my test yet, in case I needed it. So your friend will have to book the test but she won't have to take it till she's ready. Hope that helps.

Frankly, if someone is that poor at driving they should stay off the road anyway. It isn't hard to pass the test and there are advantages to it, such as cheaper insurance.

If she's on her third provisional license now, then that's what 6 years on the road? Surely she should be well able for the test, it's not difficult once you learn off a decent instructor. If she hasn't taken many lessons since she has got the first licence then she will have picked up bad habbits. Bite the bullet and do it.

Not got a hour to do a test? You'll be spending at least an entire morning in court if not the whole day.

Where does the OP state the 'friend' is actually driving?
Maybe she just wants to keep the ID current.

If she only needs an ID then get an age card or something.

Learner permit isn't an official form of id.
