    what I know about cars you could put write on the top of a matchstick so hope I get this right.

    garage done service, got them to look at a few things 02 bmw 5 series

    oil leak, they said head gasket and sump needed to be steam cleaned so they could see source of leak but they couldnt do it due to council regulations?

    how much does this cost and is there a finite amount of places that do it in dub city centre?

    The heater and demister takes a good 20-30 minutes to heat up, they said this could be coolant but if topping up the coolant didnt fix then the car needed a specialist to look at it due to the nature of the coolant system in the 5 series. This sound right?

    you'll not be driving you 5 series for long if you keep in with these chancers.

    Find a reputable independent garage to look at your car going forward.

    For the moment keep eye on oil level.
    Check your coolant level. Hopefully there is no leaks in coolant system as having to top up coolant regularly would indicate a leak or faulty head gasket.

    You can use engine degreaser and water to clean up engine to see where the leak is

    common problems with the 5 series (e39) would be thermostat stuck open takes a while to heat up and the temperature gague goes to 1/2 way mark when in traffic driving on motorway temperature gauge dips noticably towards cold marker.

    Rocker cover can leak with age but its best to degrease the engine first so you can see where its leaking from

    a decent mehcanic would point you in right dirrection unlike the guys you have dealt with that have fobbed you off
