Selling ford focus for parts

    I have a 01 ford focus 1.4 with around 100,000 miles.
    Tax and nct expired.
I had the engine replaced around 6 months ago after it seized up.
The breaks are now playing up on me. (Not responding like it should and car
    chugging when I apply breaks)

I debating whether to just sell it for parts or fix it up and sell it.
How much could you get for parts.
If I fix it up I have that cost as we'll as the cost of nct.

    Any opinions?

Probably a brake booster leak. Do not scrap it.

Seeing as the car has probably cost you more than its worth, its case that the money you make from scrapping it will probably be the same to fix the brakes. So its case equal. Depends on if you want to spend the money and keep the car. The most you'll get for it in perfect working order would be €1000 to €1500.

So if you get €500 for scrapping but need say €300 to set it right, you'll make €700 (At the low end) if you sell it. So ideally your best best is to do it up and sell it. Or keep it.

Front disk and pads need replacing.
    €160 inc vat.

Think I'll fix it up and sell it on.

Do it yourself and it won't cost half that for the parts. I got discs and pads for a 99 focus recently, think it was around €60. I got a Bosch battery as well and it was €130 for the lot

Are disks and pads worn? You say that the engine is chugging when you apply the brakes and that brakes are bad.

Brake booster is connected to the inlet manifold and can cause both issues:

    1. Air gets to the inlet manifold via the leaky booster -> engine runs lean and chugs
    2. Leaky booster cannot hold vacuum -> heavy brake pedal
