Ok so my bill has normally been 100-200 every 2 months for gas, we have little girl so it has gone up a bit this year. Just got bill in and it is €450:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Checked and had no estimates or anything. Can't explain why it is so high but we do just flick on the heating a bit so it must have built up. I was wondering is there any sort of device you can flick put on so it will feed into laptop to show what your usage is? or do you just have to keep going out to meter to check on a regular basis?

Have you had a proper service done recently ? Reason I ask is a jump in a bill of that much would set an alarm off in my head , it is possible the gas valve is passing which means your using gas even when the boiler is off! Which is both expensive and dangerous . I had a job recently where the valve wasn't shutting down at all which resulted in ridiculously high bills . My own boiler is never off thanks to herself , and my bills are around 200 every 2 months

Havent got it done recently, was thinking along the lines of that so took a reading at the meter this morning and going to check now when I get back home to see if that is the issue, the heating is not on till 5
