Advice wanted - "respectable" van = pickup?

    Hi
I'm looking for a bit of advice. I live in a terraced house with no parking, so bringing my watersports equipment in and out of the car is getting to be a real pain. A van would suit my needs perfectly ie I could leave my sports gear safely packed away in it over night. Despite the obvious practical advantages of a van it kinda falls down on the looks department.

There seems to be some nice looking pickups on the market (Pathfinder, Navara, Hilux) at surprisingly small money. Im wondering if people have any recomendations for a vechile that would suit my needs, but that you could also take to a wedding without upsetting the bride.
Also are these vechiles very expensive to run? Advice appreciated.
    Happy motoring

A top spec looking, colour coded transporter or vito are much more classy than a pickup IMO.

Pick something you like, see if it's practical/suits your needs and tell the "well respecting" lot to sod off ;)

Navara will average about 35mph and the 06 upwards with a proper back looks well

Thanks for the tips, surprized at how little space is actually in the navara hilux (cant get a surf board in the back compartment) ... sounds like a van the only man

The Merc Vito crew cabs nice. Better than those redneck pickups!

    Is that "35 MPG"?

Personally I'd put up with the inconvenience of bringing my gear in and out. Too many posts telling sad stories on the subject.
