Could anyone recommend insurance companies with cheap quotes under fathers name?

Could anyone recommend an insurance company that would insure me on my fathers policy? I'm driving a 1.4 Volkswagen Bora and the quotes I've been getting off Axa are ridiculous, 4,300€ I got quoted off them. I'm 17 year old and on a provisional license and everyone I know in the same situation seem to be finding quotes between 1,000€ and 2,000€ but I can't seem to find one under 4,000€.

Are you planning to have your father insured as the main driver with you as a named driver?

Will you be doing most of the driving?

Firstly I would suggest to stop opening multiple threads on he same subject, worded slightly differently.

Secondly does your father have an existing policy in his own name? If so then this is the reason your quote is so high, as they aren't mirroring his no claims bonus and they also weren't born yesterday, so they know what you might be trying to do with regard to him being the insured but not being the actual primary driver.

I'd look to see what cost the policy would be for you alone, you might find it's actually cheaper. Also as every young lad is driving a VW these days, that will be working against you as well as the claims in relation to these cars will have increased in recent years.

Most insurance companies have wised up to this practice of a parent putting the policy in their name and adding a child as a named driver when that child is really the main driver. It is known as "fronting". Insurance companies now work around "fronting" by loading whichever driver carries the highest risk on the policy.
