VGA to HDMI tv/laptop connection

    Hi guys

My laptop only has a VGA connection and I want to be able to connect to my TV for watching Netflix and whatnot.

I believe I can get an adaptor for my TV that will be HDMI to VGA and then I just plug a VGA cable into this adaptor. I'm not sure about this though, will the sound play through my TV or Laptop as I thought VGA connections don't carry sound? Will the picture be true HD or just a bit better than SD?

Thanks in advance, I'm a bit dense about this kind of thing and couldn't really be arsed doing loads of research and end up buying the wrong equipment.
