    Hi,

I am looking to get a tax book for a MF35, it was purchased from an elderly neighbor and we restored it to perfect condition however with the new rules we now can't bring it on the road! Just wondering if anyone is in the same position? There is no possibility of getting the original tax book of the previous owner as they searched their house and can't seem to find it. Does anyone know how we go about getting a tax book? We can't seem to find the chassis number on it but surely that is on all of them?

    Thank You!

Do you have the registration number of the tractor?

If yes, then it is fairly straightforward to get a new/replacement tax book.
The current owner need to get a 'Replacement Documents' form at a local garda station, fill it in and get it stamped at the station. They then post it to their local motor tax office and will get a new tax book posted to them.

If you dont have the registration number, it may still be possible to find it via the chassis number - draft up a letter with all the relevant details, get the current owner to sign it and post it off. You may be lucky...the tax office may locate the original reg number.
The UK (Massey) Ferguson Owners Club may be able to help you with locating the chassis number / dating the tractor from their old records.

Otherwise you will need to get a 'Year' or 'ZV' plate for the tractor.

There is another recent thread in this forum with lots of detail about getting a tax book / re-registering a tractor.

Ring the dealer and see what they require of you. They will most likely need to see the actual tractor...but ring first to confirm.

The chassis number for the 35 is on a plate that is riveted to the dash. If that is gone then it will prove quite difficult to register it on the road. If you still have that however it is reasonably straight forward to register it. It is done through the NCT similar to when you import a car from the uk. See my current thread which is detailing my current efforts at trying to register my 35 for more details....
