Looking for the best Android phone for around the €200 mark.

    - a new phone as opposed to second hand
    - a good/very good camera
    - unlocked preferably (although not totally necessary)

    Cheers.

Moto G available off most carriers for €149. Won't be matched for that money.

I knew that was coming. :D But unfortunately all the top reviews are in agreement that the camera is poor.

I don't know anything else decent for sub €200 I'm afraid so! No doubt the camera is not up there with the best but it's far from scandalous for that money. Be interesting if anyone can find something. I'd say you'd be looking at a Chinese phone of some sort maybe for that price.

Cheers mate. If it was for myself (or most smartphone users) I agree that the Moto G would be perfectly adequate. It's unfortunate that the camera lets it down in this case.

Would probably prefer not to go down the route of a Chinese phone either.

I'm happy enough with the camera on the moto G. Google+ does some neat filtering tricks to make up for the quality. Outside photos are fine, it can be blurry for inside shots. Tough taking pictures of a moving toddler. If I wanted a serious photo I'd use a real camera.

That's good to know Kleine Hundin thanks. :)

I read that the problems with the camera are supposed to be a software issue.

4.4.3 might fix that when it releases. I'd go with the moto G. I've had to use a number of midrange android phones and they are usually terrible. The moto G is pretty damn good for the price.

The camera seems to perform pretty well to me. I know it's not the best on the market but its definitely not a bad camera.

Lads I'm really aware of the qualities of the Moto G. I've recommended it to many people myself. It's great that ye are happy with them, I'm sure most people are.

It just doesn't meet these simple requirements though.

What about the Moto G :pac:

I dont think you will get anything new for less than 200 that suits your needs tbh

Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini is a very good Android. Should be around €200. Does everything you'd need

Surely there is a new phone out there with a good/very good camera for around €200? It doesn't have to be under €200 but in that region.

If they were willing to switch to a windows phone the lumia 625 doesn't look bad either.

Edit:Both have a 5MP camera but the lumia only has a vga front camera so the moto g actually wins again. Sorry!

It's certainly a possibility, hadn't thought of it to be honest. Will check that out too, thanks.

Here's a selection of photos I've taken with the moto g.

edit: Removing link as there are plenty of photos on the xda thread, which I didn't see before posting my contribution. So no need to add mine to the mix.

Just random photos I take odd days. Any touchup was via google autoawesome.
