I'd go with the "I'm leaving now love" then when she asks what kept you it would be the fact that when she rang you were at the far end of the course, so had to make you way slowly and carefully around all the other golfers and then "the traffic on the Naas road was just chockers.....must of been a crash love, anyway i'm here now, where is me kid?"

Steve, I like your style... Mainly because it's my style too ;)

Was down in Waterford at a meeting on the day of the first scan for first kid.
Forgot about the scan until I got the reminder phone call....
"No worries darling, see you in Holles st in an hour"

(Wasn't too late either. The foot was down for that journey... Had a lad from work with me in the car, he needed to go to the jacks in Waterford... He held on in many ways)

Not looking good for me this year, another event I can't make. Hoping to make a couple to support the society and committee.

On a good note myself and the wife are going to enjoy the GOTY prize from last year on Monday. A night away from the small ones in Carton House with dinner included. Class prize.

Heard only good things about Carlow so enjoy and I hope the weather is good for you.

Nearly there lads, last push for a few more to make 30 (we're at 27 at the moment)
Weather is looking good for the weekend, we might not get roasted but I don't think we'll get wet which is important.

Finally a reminder too - even though the green fee for the weekend is €40, the society are subsidising some of this so all paid up members will have to pay is the normal €30. For visitors its the normal green fee plus €5 towards the visitors prize*

    *Minimum number of entries required.

    Keep the ankle compressed.

You mean to say there's an option to lay up??!!!! ;)

I'm not going to look at the flyover until the last minute when I know if I can go or not... It'd only make it worse.

Going for 10 is for lads who love scratches.

6 iron and then 9 for me.

    Have never played it but.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,023 Mod ✭✭✭✭charlieIRL

Actually now seeing as we are on about drives, anyone who has played the course like to suggest a hole for longest drive and closest to the pin?
We will do the 2's on ANY hole as well. (we had 4 in Portumna)

looking at the website, 8 looks like a good hole to have longest drive on?

I was a member until I moved from home. The club always uses 16 as the hole for the long drive. The fairway gets narrower the further you go so it is ideal.

8 is all downhill so not really suitable.

    Hope you all enjoy it.

Gonna have to bow out of this one. Was hoping to make it but no joy.

    Enjoy it!

10th is a mighty tough and foolhardy hole to take on with the driver. My recollection is the second is pretty drivable also if you hit it a good skelp.

Never mind the drivable par 4's. Who has the power and ability to reach the 14th 435 mtr par 4 in regulation? I hit a fine drive, right hand (wrong) side of fairway and a peach of a 3 wood last time I played, still to be 20 yards short of the green.

8th is not a good hold for longest drive cause it is downhill. Down a BIG hill!!

9th would possibly be a good option, pretty flat & straight from recollection. 16th is uphill, so possible a bit unfair IMO. (But a damn fine golf hole)

17 for nearest pin. It is short, but by no means easy. index 17 on the card but don't let that fool you.
