Personal hello, passes the following 3 months ago had probelmas with the eircom broadband, had a package of 24 MB speed, and in fact the speed of 5MB never passed, called eircom, and they sent a technician, he changed the router and the problem always the same speed 5MB.
as was already not contract with eircom, decided to switch to UPC, transfer my phone number to the UPC, in the meantime I phoned eircom saying it would end the use boardband them, and cancel the account, the man said he had you pay 40 € for not having warned 30 days earlier I agreed.
eircom then sent me a bill of 300 euros to pay as I had given up and pay the cut line and boardband. thing so should pay 40 € what should I do?
because they already sent a warning that would take me to court.

your post is hard for me to understand, so lts go with the last sentence, eircom never send warnings about taking anyone to court, it is usually a debt collection agency who sends such a warning, however you have no contract with them, your dealings are with eircom.

You entered a 12 month contract with eircom for broadband. They charge a fee for not giving 30 days notice. They seem to be charging you for the rest of the year. Are you sure you were not in contract? When did you sign up with eircom and when did you make your last change to your account (upgraded speed for example)?

sorry im portugese and sorry on my english, my contract with eircom is gone long time i sign for 12 months but is over 6 months ago,
the only reason to change to upc,is the bad services eircom give to me, and the support phone form eircom said i have only to pay 40€ from not notice 30 days before to finish with the company.
eircom 6 months ago upgrade my internet speed up to 24 MB for free no contracts nothing.

You can contact them through here. Don't know how to find it again, but I've posted on threads in there. Sorry, I find this forum a little confusing to navigate!

you seem to have six months of your contract left, this you need to fulfill, about eircom support saying that you were told by eircom that you had only €40 to refund, will will need to have the day date and time plus the name of the support person advailable, they will say that you were never given such advice, when you are told this, you need to ask for a copy of the recording of the conversation, if they have it it will solve the issue, if not it is your word against theirs, please remember that the game in question eircom are playing with a loaded dice.

Ok. Let me understand this. Did you sign up with eircom 6 months ago, or 18 months ago?

If it is 18 months ago and your contract ended 6 months, you should not be paying "cancellation" fees. You do have to give 30 days notice, but that usually just means an extra month (€40). If your spoken English is not good, have someone else speak to them to ask how they have sent a €300 bill. It wouldn't be the first mistake eircom have made. But be aware that if you made changes to your contract, such as adding, or changing call packages, you may have signed a new contract without even knowing it. Ignore the debt collection agency. They have almost no powers here. Deal only with eircom. Takes names and notes all the time.

When you were upgraded to 24mb, it sounds like you were called about it, or was it a door sales man? I think this is actually the most likely reason you are getting a big bill. It sounds like you were sold faster broadband. He may have said it is standard, but they hardly call every customer about it. They usually just advertise it somewhere.

OP, Comreg has barred Eircom from penalising people for not giving 30 days notice, once they are out of the initial minimum contract, which is usually 12 months. You can sign up with another provider and they will look after the transfer from Eircom. Do not pay them except what you actually owe them up to the day your service ends.

Hi again, the 24mb upgrade was a offer from the phone support i dint ask for more speed, the man say to me like is the only way to fix my issues from the line, i sign up a contract 18 months ago, i still have th copie, the eircom is not charge me about the contract because dont exist, is charge me 150€ for phone line cut off, and 140€ for boardband cut off. The contract i sign is only 12 months and already expire 6 months ago, and i quit from eircom because she dont provide me the right service.

So they upgraded you from 5mb to 24mb 3 months ago. This started a new contract. You will need to call comreg about it and document proof of your speeds at different times of day. If, as you say, you don't get over 5mb of speed. Eircom can hardly call it an upgrade.

As far as i know, there is no disconnection fee unless you are in contract. It would then be early termination fee, plus the remainder of the contract price.

I cancelled landline phone and broadband with Eircom on September 3rd last year.
Every month since then I have received a bill for Broadband and every month I have spent hours on to their laughable named 'Customer Service team' - each month they assure me that the problem is fixed - and every month a new bill arrives.
In January I got a letter telling me that I have been disconnected for not paying the account. But guess what - they continue to bill me.
t would be laughable if it wasn't so annoying.
Incompetent doesn't begin to describe this organisation and its staff.
