Unpaid Internship & JSA

    Hi all,

I have been offered an 8 week unpaid internship, 3-5 days a week, however they will cover expenses and lunch. It is unpaid with a view to be paid and permanent after this 8 week period.

I've already Googled this and see that many people have been cut off because it appears that they are not 'genuinely available to work' and all that craic. So I'm dubious about accepting it.

I've been put on a Progression Plan, and this internship fits into the goal of finding work in the youth and/or community sector, so it should count, however it isn't a Jobbridge or WPP or anything like that.

    Thoughts anyone?

As your searching confirmed, the only internship which you can undertake while retaining your Social Welfare payment is JobBridge. Check with wherever put you on the Progression Plan and they will go over with you the options offered for work and training and study while still retaining SW payment.
