building pc help

    Hi hope someone can help looking to build a gaming pc for my son who is eight (going on eighteen) now hes always on my pc which can only play minecraft at a push and hes wanting to play call of duty and any other games but as i said mine cant play them.
    so i thought i would look into building one for him don't need till Xmas so i want to save or buy different parts every month as i dont have alot.
    hope i done the list right below thank you.:D


    1. What is your budget?€400-500 max

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? for my son to play games ie call of duty and to keep him of my bloody pc

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? no

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? not really all parts i have are pretty old have around 4 gig ram

    5. Do you need a monitor? no don't think so my son has a HD TV he uses for his x box so i was thinking of using that as a monitor too think that ok ?

    5a. If yes, what size do you need. [19'/20'/22'/24'/etc.]

    5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? not sure but only got tv at xmas so im sure resolution is high

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? mouse

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? no

    8. How can you pay? laser paypal

    9. When are you purchasing? near xmas so i have plenty time to save

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? dont need help should be fine:)

    Post back here a few weeks before you purchace, components change so often and along with that the price of them, IMO no point buying one part at a time.

    ^ That's a good site a lot of folks here use, take a look through an do some reading up on what you may be after, if nothing else it'll give you an idea of prices and that.

    There are a few posters here i'm sure will spec out a very good build for you when you're ready to purchace.

    Edit: Would an upgrade to your exixting machine be possible? Maybe a good alternative to building a new rig?

    Forgot to add, take a quick look through these forums, there are a few builds specked out that fall within your budget.
    Again just to give you an idea what you can get for your budget.
