Potterton Promax HE Plus recommendations/warnings?

    Hello all,

Even though my architect stipulated a Bosch boiler system for the house, the plumbing sub-contractor installed a Potterton Promax HE Plus system. And I'm quite annoyed TBH!

Reading reviews and opinions on the internet it seems this brand is a whole lot of trouble and shouldnt be touched with a barge pole.

Should I make an issue of this with my builder? Is this system as bad as it sounds?

Any quick advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Potterton boilers are basically a Baxi. There is nothing really that wrong with them & if installed & commissioned correctly on a good system, it will perform well.
However, that is not really the issue here. If a particular boiler was specified, then that boiler should be installed so yes I would take it up with the boiler & architect & have it changed.

+1 . Not a bad boiler by any means , but not the specified boiler for the job and if I had to choose between the two I'd be picking the Bosch everytime.

Thanks guys, and I agree the real issue here is that the boiler is not as agreed. The only problem I have is that if I start making an issue with the boiler than that may affect my relationship with the builder (we're in the middle of a project).

So the Promax system is not too bad? Is that the general consensus?

If the Potterton & the Bosch were hung on a wall side by side, I'd hug the Bosch.

You don't have to fall out. You can just ask the question why was the specified boiler not fitted when the WB would be by far the better boiler.

Your not talking about a colour schemes here, you've had a inferior boiler fitted which will impact more on your life than the builders or installers.

Fault code E133, handy fix but a call out non the less, good solid boiler op imo.
