    Hi,
I went looking for a new saloon car at the weekend, ideally hoping to move up to 2009-2012. Had been thinking along the lines of a Volvo S40 or BMW 3 series, both of which I drove at the weekend. Thought the 316 was a nicer drive but then ended up going to test drive a Mercedes C200 with the avantegarde pack. It's the 2.2 diesel which they say averages just over 50 mpg on the motorway but I imagine its more like between 40-50. Am in my thirties so am wondering whether I am mad to go for a merc ? Any thoughts from folks who own one on what to look out for if I was to take the plunge?

    Thanks

I just picked up an 05 C180k Sport a few weeks ago. Love it but not looking forward to paying for MB genuine parts :(

Go for it, they're a decent car.

We have a C180k Avantgarde from new since 2008.
Regular servicing and it has never given a days trouble.

Automatic lights on it and it does tend to blow a lot of bulbs compared to our other car. Approx 5 or 6 per year...

Start changing bulbs in pairs if that's the case. So if the passenger side dip bulb goes, change both dip bulbs. Same with any other pair. That should solve that problem.

Do you mean just as a preventative measure or are you saying that replacement both somehow prevents failures?

The latter believe it or not! Auto-electrician informed me of this once, friends car was blowing bulbs. He started doing this and problem solved, bulbs were lasting a year or two rather than months/weeks.

Thanks for the replies folks. Am leaning more towards it now after another test drive, good tip about the bulbs too!
