    Hey guys
Im trying to view a PDF file on a Samsung GT-S5310 using adobe PDF reader and I'm getting the same error message "not a genuine PDF" everytime, either on a browser or direct through the file manager tool.

    Any Ideas?>

Are you sure it is a PDF??

Adobe invented the Portable Document Format, so it should know!!

Try reading on PC/Laptop using Adobe Reader, connect your phone via USB,or send it to yourself via email, or Airdroid, etc.

Kindle can also read PDF files if you have the Android Reader App.....

you could/should also check for virus, unless you created this file yourself??

The document is in a zip file

    Have you extracted it??

Adobe Reader will not natively peek inside a zip archive, AFAIK.

There are many zip extractor tools available on Play, but possibly you have a good file manager installed??

One like ES File Explorer can manage zip archives and much more, and will launch the appropriate app to deal with the zip contents.

Still wont allow the pdf to be open i believe there is a password on it but wont allow me to input the password

Is the PDF still giving that error message? Or not!!

Honestly, are you James Bond or something??

You give no information as to whether the file has now been extracted and this password thing is new...

    I believe indeed.

Is it or is it not password protected?

If it is, it should prompt for the password, and you should have it if the file was intended to be read by you.

Even if it is an archived zip and you are using a zip manager or file manager to open the file, if its p/w protected it will prompt you.

I asked you if you were sure its a PDF, or if it was intended for you, or if you have extracted it, or used a zip or file manager to open the file, but you won't tell me, so I'm done here. OK!!

it is intended for me it is password protected and it orignally came as a zip file attached to an email

    What was it archived with??

Is it 7-Zip, or some other non-standard archiver?

I would try opening/unzipping with 7 Zip for Android....try this:
