Desiccant dehumidifier?

    Hello,

We rent a home that is somewhat damp. No outright visible mold usually, but one or another room has a smell sometimes.

We have a couple of usual (compressor) dehumidifiers. We use them to dry clothes and also put one into a room if the smell arrives and it usually eventually helps. However, without the clothes, a dehumidifier takes a lot of time to get water out, I think I got less than a liter a day from a smelly room (but it ceased to be smelly).

Might have something to do with 18 degrees Celsius in the house much of the time.

I wonder if I could get more efficient water extraction by going for a desiccant dehumidifier - probably one of those:

The prices are decent (free delivery, too), but is it a good idea to spend the money? Will such a device work much better than the compressor ones?

I researched this some time ago, and I came to same conclusion as you. However, I didn't really have a permanent issue so didn't go ahead with it.

I don't think you'd get more water extraction, but it would cost less to run.

Thanks a lot for the comment!

There are some reviews that say the DD122 tends to break down. I'm thinking of a DD322, actually.
