Is the dock connector charging the phone?

Yes it is and the audio jack is actually working but the home button is not

check that the home button sensor (gold circles from the short wire loom from sensor that screws behind the home button) is on the right side (when looking at the screen from behind) and so they line up to the connectors internally inside the phone. if this connector has been damaged you can just get a new one pretty cheap on ebay :)
