Hello all I am trying to find a decent NAS server for home use. Photo storage, play music, videos etc... would be the main use. Would love some suggestions and info on where i can source one cheap enough. regards...

Cheapest option, if you're any way handy and if it's possible, flash your router with ddwrt and just add a usb hdd to the router.

i have 3 old 500gb hdds plugged in as well as an external drive. I disconnect the internal fan and the temps are fine, so you will only hear the vibration of a hdd being accessed

Yeah, and with Plex Plus or whatever it's called you can stream & download when you're away from the lan
