So im selling my 97 BMW for around 600 on donedeal and i get an email from this guy saying he wants it and willing to pay asking without seeing it personally...he wants to take it Turkey where he lives and wants to paypal me the money then someone will come pick it up.
Now after some research i found out my car sells for around 4-5 grand in Turkey.
Now i doubt he is going to pay shipping from Ireland and the big import duties and save money so what do u think is goin on here?
He seems genuine but i don't wanna get into any trouble.

    This is a scam.
    You will lose your money.

    Avoid.

    its probably a scam

In saying that I did legitimately ship a car to Malta, but it costs a hell of a lost more than €600

    It's a scam.
But if you really want to sell it to him.

Tell the buyer to get the guy collecting it to hand over cash

Last time I was back in Ireland I was out with a friend who was buying a car. He had a mechanic out with him who also sells cars and he was telling a story about a scam involving 2 cars he was recently selling. Both were old cars selling for under a grand and he had someone from Africa want to buy them without seeing them and ship them over to Nigeria. It involved a fake email being sent from paypal that said they transferred the value of the car and extra for the shipping. They then ask you to transfer the money to a western union account to pay the shipping agent as it's more expensive if they do it or something. Or they say they transferred too much by mistake. So the scam is to make the money sent via western union while they never actually transferred anything to your paypal account. It seems so obvious but some people do fall for it.

Get him to Western Union you the cash tell him you don't have a Paypal account, he will then go slowly away if it's a scam.

OP general rule is that if anyone intends to buy a car from you from abroad, make sure just to take cash personally.
Most paypal, western union, etc transfers are scams.

Tell him you are a part time devil worshiper and will accept 3 sacrificial goats as payment instead. Tell him they have to be sacrificial goats, not the regular kind. :D
