Not sure I am in the right place but here goes :
I recently bought a 04 Xtrail which is great , the factory fitted radio (Clarion PP-2609T) thou is not working , all the lights are on and stations will allow be to tune it into the presets etc but there is not a peep out of it , I have loaded CDs on it and they play and run thru the timer as the play but again no sound . It is not asking for a security code and there are no error messages and to look at the radio it looks as if it is working while the volume at full tilt but no sound . I have removed the radio , checked connections and reconnected it to no avail (thats the limit of my ability) I am weary of spending money on a new unit and harness if required until I am sure the problem is fatal for the current radio .
Any tech guys got any idea what to try next , I brought the unit to Halfords (they offered) to test it but they had no harness as Nissan seems to have a unique set up . thank in advance

This is not a very complicated unit to repair .Press the seek up or down button and check if the radio will scan away and then stop on a station of its own accord. If it does stop on a station then most likely the amplifier is blown . This radio cannot be tested on a bench as it is Married to its original car.

Thanks for that , the radio is not taking in presets but is scanning ,the buttons beep as you toggle thru them .Is the repair a standard repair from your experience i.e could any car radio tech/workshop repair (based on the unit been married to the car probably not) .
I think I will just order a different harness and replace the unit as I miss the noise.

Your radio is repairable but can only be done by someone who has the know how to be able to test it outside of the car. Probably cheaper to repair than to replace.

Ask at local garages as to where they get their car radios repaired.
