Strandhill golf club hosting an open 4ball rumble next Sunday 30th with all proceeds going to mulrany golf club.

10 euro a head for members and non members alike . Great value and you will be supporting efforts to return this lovely course to its former glories . Call 0719168188 or register via brs.

Think it's going to be well supported so get on time sheet early.

If anyone has any pull in any clubs all over the country we would be very thankful if they could donate 4 green fees which will be used as golf/raffle prizes.

They need a dig out - please support if you can - might be your course next.

Fair play to them Sligored. Is there a Facebook page I could share or something on the website we could link when sharing.

Fair dues to strandhill, a lovely track and one that I love playing when I'm in the area.

Really hope to see more clubs doing this in the weeks ahead. I know Mulranny were due to send out a mailing to all the clubs, asking for this very thing (clubs to run comps with proceeds going to Mulranny), so fair play to Strandhill for being out in front on this one.

I have to ask, does this really make financial sense? Would you run a business this way? Let stronger clubs support weaker ones? Seems like a good way for them all to limp along or even fail when cutting one loose might save all the rest.
This isn't the marines and it sucks if you are the one impacted but...

This is not a case of a Club failing due to financial difficulties, its storm damage and I personally find it heart warming to see, Clubs "down the Country" have a greater sense of each other. I know when I was a member many years ago in such clubs, we would always support the neighbouring clubs Open Weeks, Fund Raisers or even Table Quiz's. Simpler times maybe, but great to see this kinda help going on.

As said the club needs sea defences and that's what the fundraisers are for, ad why they asked other clubs to help out. It's a small club with at most 170 members. The sea defences are reportedly going to cost 100k. A 9 hole club at 280 for full membership can not afford that. It's too good of a course to let it go!

Big thanks to strand hill for putting on the fundraiser.

ah i had forgotten about the flood damage down there. nice to see so
though 'i think it has little to do with it being 'down the country'...that sort of thing happens up in the big schmoke too...

I'll be playing, I mentioned this in the courses damaged thread her a few weeks ago too.
I paid for a green fee there 2 weeks ago and didn't play, it's not much but lots of small support is still very useful to them at the minute.

Just looking at the brs there, there is an awful lot of white atm. I hope it's well supported.

I believe it means the on-line timesheet is nowhere near full at the moment.
