What is the proper way to get rid of waste oil from engines? I used to work in a place that had a big tank ourside the fitting shop and i used to dump it all in there. Sadly I don't work there anymore so what is the proper way to dispose of the oil? And how much does it cost?

Most municipal recycling centres - like the one at the South Ring Landfill site in Cork, for example - have a waste oil tank, where household users can come along and dump waste oil for no charge. I use one of those 6l catcher/containers, and I bring it there. Note that large and/or commercial users are disallowed.

We have a centre in co.Kildare where you can bring virtually anything. Prices are per tonne I think, but there is also an entry fee of 2-3 euro.
Makes more sense to wait until you have more than few litres and dump all at one time.

    Just checked it is 102 euro/Tonne + 2.25 (car) or 4.50 (car with trailer/van/4x4)
