Driving test with Autohold

Hi, my other half is finally learning to drive and has applied for his test. We are due a baby any day so there is some urgency for him to get his test as the need to be accompanied is really limiting.

Anyway we just changed the car too to a VW which had the Autohold (auto handbrake) function which is great but no one can tell us if he needs to switch this off for his test. If he does he would like to practice it obv as it's a button not a "lever" so would take some practice.

The car otherwise is a manual Tiguan.
So has anyone done a test in a car with an auto hold function?

    Thanks!

Friend of mine did his in Passat with auto handbrake and didn't have any issues with it. I don't even know if it can be turned off, but he wasn't asked to do this.

Thanks! Ours can be turned off with a button between the seats but good to hear he might not need to. Thanks for replying

Just so we are clear this was only based on an experience, you might want to double check with instructors/RSA/testers to be 100% sure.

So many cars are now fitted with this system, that i doubt it would be banned from the test. Good luck anyway.

Oh yes I get that but good to hear one opinion anyway.

I would think that it would be allowed in the test. Although his license may restrict him to only driving cars with autohold.

There is not such a restriction in place.

Auto license only applies to auto gear box;)

No problem using this car as is in test, Passats have same feature and are tested regularly.

Well I know that there are other restrictions beside auto gearbox for example if a test is taken with a modified vehicle where normal foot controls are controlled by hand such as brake, clutch and accelerator, modifications you would normally only see for drivers with mobility difficulties.
