    Hello all,

    I have a quick question. I have Chromecast, it is awesome there's no doubt about it however I have a quick query regarding accessing content.

    It's just been launched in the UK and I can download the BBC iPlayer app on my Nexus however when I try to stream content to Chromecast no dice...

    Radio broadcasts play alright on my Nexus but not video, is it restricted regionally? Would this be the reason I'm getting error messages trying to play content?

    Sort of in a similar vein I have no problem with Netflix, works a treat but when I access Netflix with my 'workaround' I can't stream American content to Chromecast, is this because of Geographical restrictions or is this a genuine error with Chromecast?

    NB - I'm not asking how to get around these things, just want to know if that's the reason.

    Yup, normal BBC content is restricted when you try and stream outside the UK no matter what the device is.

    You can get radio where the content is not subject to a location licence e.g. commentaries on sporting events are only available in the location the licence covers. Whereas other programmes may be universally available.

    To watch BBC through iplayer app and on the chromecast (outside of the U.K) you will need a VPN or "SmartDNS" to route your web traffic via the U.K. If you go the way of "SmartDNS" you will need to make some changes to your router as the Chromecast has the google DNS addresses hard coded in it. A quick google will give you all the needed information.
