The Pirate Bay and Kick Ass Torrents are the only ones I can know of.

Seems you can add TorrentDay to that list a private site, thought they were only doing the big ones.

Seems to be blocked on Vodafone, too. It's the Labour Party and the big record labels that are responsible for this shíte. Remember that the next time you're voting..

One thing I have never done is vote labour :)

What pisses me off is at least they say Piratebay is blocked but the rest just time out msg. At least make the effort when ur blocking it

How are they blocking so easy now at the drop of a hat?

Thought there was a court process involved

Scary they can block on a whim

There was a court process. Sony and other companies won that's why they're now blocked. Easy ways around it but I don't think I'm allowed say here so better not.

Ways around it are fine, but as stated the fact they now block sites at a whim is worrying. Wish I had an alternative to eircom cant stand the company and I have the misfortune of working with them on occasion.

I think the record labels can now tell the Irish ISPs which websites to block because of the court case.

Fine on Vodafone, too. I should have checked to see if the website is down.

It's hardly unreasonable for them to make a token effort to block sites with links to copyrighted files?

Are you telling me a socialistic political party lobbying for money-grubbing corporations is reasonable? I'd call it hypocrisy.

Furthermore, not all files are copyrighted. You could make a video and use a torrent tracker to share it to your friends. P2P is best way of sharing files because you can resume you downloads if your connection breaks.

Also, the uploader bought the album so he owns the copyright, he can lend it to whomever he wants. Record labels are just annoyed because they're not making a profit off it. Most up-and-coming musicians make fúck-all from their albums because they are desperate to sign and usually get a bad deal. I have very little sympathy for record labels in the music industry.

Another thing: first they'll block torrent websites. What's next? Corporations can have a chat with our government and ask them to block any website they don't like. Do you want corporations controlling what we can see on the Internet? This is the road to full-scale Internet censorship.

Oh and let's not forget the compact disc - place that on a desk the wrong way or spill a drink on it and you'll have to purchase a new one. The CD is fragile piece of shít. If it gets scratched, you'll have to re-buy the CD to use it again, thus, re-buying the copyright. That's hardly fair, is it? You've already bought the copyright so you shouldn't have to buy it again.

Oh and don't give me the stealing argument if that's your next response. Making duplicates isn't stealing because everyone still holds on to their possession. Nothing is gone or taken.

Streaming and downloading is the way of the future, Nonoperational, time for you to stop dwelling in the past.

Yes it came back for me around 11 too, it was timing out for 2 ISPs and fine all day for one.

People use torrent sites to get copyrighted stuff for free. You can ramble on and make yourself feel good about it all day long if you like, but it doesn't change that fact. Personally I couldn't care less, but I am just of the opinion that it's hardly unreasonable for them to make some token gesture to the copyright holders. If you had any sort of internet savvy at all it would be a non-issue because there are hundreds of mirrors anyway.

Relax a small bit and leave your self-righteous indignation at the door. Full scale internet censorship because the piratebay is blocked? You're having a laugh.
