It got a bag of urea last week. Depends on growth whether it will be grazed again. Outfarm got slurry and a bag of urea so far, not grazed so will top up with Cut Sward. Plan to cut that mid May.

Only closing out farm initially. Youngstock will be there until 1st of April. Everything will get ASN next week and a bag of urea first week of April. When surpluses appear we'll decide how much more we will close and top up probably with CAN.

Would anyone go with slurry and just urea for silage ground?

    Doesn't really answer the question.

Have you ever gone with just slurry and urea for silage ground in the same spring?

Yes. Slurry and urea is what I used above. I was pointing out it was two applications of slurry but was grazed in between so how much of the slurrys nutrients was used prior to closing I wouldn't be sure. For the first cut that's what I do most years depending on what I have in the yard, would be either urea or can.

If I had a soil test that said I'd be covered I might but the nutrients taken off have to be replaced. If this is "silage ground" it's highly unlikely to be of a high enough index to do this.

The origin of the question is that a teagasc advisor did soil samples for a neighbour and advised to go with slurry and urea.

My own opinion would be silage ground is hard enough on nutrients and therefore it would be very short sighted to go with just urea.

Yeah, you'll be fine for this year but he might end up going with additional P& K next year

Closed off and gave them a bag of urea Tues evening, could have been a bit drier mind.
If anything it was too well grazed if that's possible. Going to give it few weeks and hit it again with 18-6-12

Would 3or4 bags of 18-6-12 and 1/2 bag of urea be enough to replace nutrients

With slurry spread around now there bags would go a long way on it.
