    hi I filed my 2013 return early and I was issued a 'letter of assessment'

    revenue informed me they no longer issue notices of assessment for self employed
    persons from 2014

    I'm having a load of trouble with various applications I'm making requiring proof of income as they are all still insisting on requiring the NOA

    is this correct? the NOA is no longer issued?

    You should have got a self assessment letter which is a one page basic summary of the tax return submitted. I'm sure this along with a copy of the return submitted would suffice.

    I sent in the following for med card;

    2013 income and expenditure statement

    extract from accounts (form11)showing tax calculation

    revenue letter of assessment

    and they're back to me looking for the non-existent notice of assessment

    I have given up for now

    they just kept coming back looking for the notice of assessment no matter how many times I told them I couldn't get one and had supplied all the relevant info

    Don't give up, that's what they want you to do. Try a Citizens Information office to see if they can help you.

    This is because you now SELF ASSESS either on paper before 31 August (and you will get a calculation), or on ROS, where the self assessment is YOURS, and you can print it off.

    Revenue assessments are no longer given because YOU self assess.

    So you should have either the calculation given to you by Revenue, or the ROS version of your own calculation.

    I am currently applying for a medical card, and my wife is self employed, but we do a joint assessment for tax purposes. I think I can just pump in the figures as I see them, because the online medical card application doesn't seem to be asking for a Notice Of Assessment, just the FIGURES from the Notice Of Assessment (which doesn't exist). Think I'll just tread carefully and see how I get on
