Does anyone know a cheap, reliable way to purchase a Macbook pro. Recently mine was stolen and the thoughts of spending over a grand on a new one is enough to make you cry :(

Just buy a PC, paint it white and stick an apple sticker on it. Then you can get all the smug satisfaction for a bargain basement price.

Macbook pros are a grand piece of hardware. Apple do make a good laptop. That said, there are other cheaper and more powerful machines available running windows/linux which are also very good.

I am a previous apple computer enthusiast but my current desktop which I built myself with haswell, gtx770 and running windows 7 is the best performing machine I have ever owned. Plus I can play games!!!

Edit: There was one fella in college who bought a macbook, formatted and ran windows only :) The fanboys didn't react well.

What do you need a MBP for specifically?

You could get a higher spec PC for lot cheaper. Dual boot with Linux too if you needed...

If you have anyone in the US buy there. MBP Old model $1199 which converts to €867. Nice discount. I purchased there last year.

Try Amazon UK. There is a lot of grey imports for sale aka American MacBooks with no VAT on them

Although Irish Customs are extreme in their efforts to put tax on most online orders. But yet drugs still get through the postal system

I know just the place OP. Send on approx 1,000 euro to my bank account and I will furnish you with the goods.

While I have your attention, would you be interested in helping out a friend of mine in a bit of financial bother? He is a Nigerian Prince so you know he is good for it.

Keep an eye on adverts. I got a hardly-used MBA for €800 recently.

Although I got it to learn iOS development, I also ended up writing a novel in Starbucks while wearing lense-less glasses, a scarf and drinking an unpronounceable coffee. I'm now also a vegan.

I like MacBooks but I really can't justify the cost enough to buy one so I'll be purchasing some other brand. However, if you really want one so much how about the refurbished ones? There's more info on the apple website.

Anti Apple folk are no better than Apple fanboys.
