You were told right. They're actually a brilliant and often overlooked small car.
Most of them have aircon, 4 electric windows etc.
that 1.2 is a new engine too, came out on the i20 and was added into the i10 replacing the older 1.1

A new model kia rio came out in 2011, which is related to the i20 but even better

Not as cheap as the 2011 Hyundai though, which can be bought from €7500-ish

have these the kappa engine (think thats what it called) which makes them more easier on fuel, someone mentioned 50mpg

Yeah, the Kappa engines are just the 16 valve DOHC small engines, the i20 has the Kappa 2 version which has variable valve timing as well.
the older engines like on the Getz were SOHC 12 valve and called Epsilon.
