Will anything ever challenge Facebook ?

    With currently 1.2billion active members, there is no doubt that Facebook is the biggest social media website in history.
    Now you read online that people are leaving to use twitter,snapchat,Instagram ect but many still also use Facebook. They won't loose many members in the near future. It's simple and easy to use and a world renound company, but will any thing else ever challenge it.

    It overtook bebo and MySpace and many are suggesting Facebook will suffer a similar fate. But does anyone think somebody will make a better social media site to Facebook, that will at least rival it never mind overtake it ?

    Bebo and MySpace never invested in their platforms to the extent that FB did. FB's timing was also right and they got to a critical mass that no other social network got to.

    If you were to move to another network, then you'd have to bring your friends and that's where the challenge lies for any new network. Google can't even crack that one.

    I'm not saying that it's impossible but it would be difficult to knock FB off their perch. They have the numbers, continue to innovate and are making money. I think what you'll see more of is specialist social networks.
