I bought a 2nd lapiere hybrid from a well known bike shop a couple of weeks ago. They said it would be serviced before i got it. The chain snapped and ive only about 50kms on it since i bought it.

Should they replace this FOC or not?

Also, the pads are very worn(no biggie but still!)

You bought a 2nd LaPierre or a second hand LaPierre??

Also pad worn, is general wear and tear, not warranty work..

The snapped chain should be covered. I also wager that if the brakes were worn that they too should have been replaced before resale.

Especially after a couple of weeks.

How many kms in those few weeks?

I would like to think that if I was buying a used bike that the shop would ensure that my brakes would last longer than 50km.

That makes you a valuable customer and well worth ensuring your loyalty.

Hopefully the see it this way and are not seeing you as an 'easy target'.

Both of your issues should be covered under any guarantee considering you've only 50km on the bike.

Rang the shop this morning. Not even a question of anything other than warranty.

    Happy
