Im 16 and in transition year and im wondering what the procedure is to get a driving licence. Both of my parents have gone through the system abroad so can't help me and the dtt website doesn't give much clear info. What are the steps from now to getting my licence and being legally able to drive?

What about updating some of the information in that stickied post? The part about applying for a license is out of date, as you can no longer apply for a learner permit, or renew an expired one by post. Think the documentation requirements are different too. You also don't go into the Motor Tax office anymore either.

Yeah I read through the thread there and while the info is great, it hasn't been updated since 2011.

EDIT: kbannon the user who created the thread has been inactive since 2012
