hi folks, I'm looking to do a half marathon later in the year, preferably October/November. I found a super looking one in London (Parks half marathon) but the ballot is closed, so I'm looking for something along the lines of that one i.e. nice surroundings anywhere in the UK and Ireland. Google is not really giving me anything that's caught my interest so if anyone knows of a half that may not be advertised yet or point me to one I've missed I'd really appreciate it. thanks :)

Clonakilty Half at start of December, great scenery and great race by all accounts.

Waterford Half is good alright, done it around 4 times now.

Can't think of any in Oct/Nov though I'm afraid,

If you really want to race in London, there's a half in Richmond on September 21st. There's a good 10 mile race close enough to there in October too, the Cabbage Patch 10.

Ealing half marathon and Richmond Running Festival half are both at the end of September in the London area, if you're looking there specifically. I've done and enjoyed both a lot.

Richmond starts in Kew Gardens and has a long out-and-back stretch along the Thames towpath, lovely and scenic, and obviously flat. I met Sonia o Sullivan at it too, which was a thrill :)

Ealing is more suburban but had more of a "big" marathon atmosphere around it, i think around 3,500 did it when i did it. The course is more challenging (though not especially tough) and you don't double back on yourself as you do in Richmond. I probably preferred this one of the two, but would have no problem recommending both!

I've applied for the royal parks one the last couple of years but haven't ever got a place. Nice warm hoody though!

Try this for some race dates.
There are a couple of halfs in Eire and UK in Oct and Nov.

Sixmilebridge host a half, full and double marathon on 16th November, if you can stomach running a lot of 1-mile loops (which is actually a lot more fun than it sounds, believe it or not).
