Recently signed-up for this package and was advised that phone calls will no longer need to be less than 59 mins before incurring extra charges. Can any current user of VF Home Extra confirm this?
Also, will VF handle the switching procedure or do I need to look after this myself?

Any local/national/UK calls I have made that have gone over that limit have been "free".

Let Vodafone do the legwork on switching and just wait for the final bill to arrive from your old ISP. Assuming you are out of contract with your old ISP you shouldn't have any penalties added to your final bill. The most you may have to do is cancel the direct debit once the final bill has been paid although some companies will do this automatically.

Yes I'm out of contract with Sky.
    Thanks for all the info.

You simply need to hang up after 59 mins and dial again to keep the call free. Common with nearly alll service providers AFAIK

VF handle the switching process end to end. You should always check your current contract though on notice periods etc just to be 100%

That is precisely what I'm trying to avoid. Are you a VF Home Extra user and are you sure about that?

If that's the case then I have been mis-sold the Home Extra product. While the VF Rep was in my house I asked him at least twice if calls were limited to 59 mins. before extra charges kicked-in and he said no they were not. He even confirmed same with his supervisor over the phone. Later that evening I phoned VF Customer Care and the agent again confirmed there was no need to re-dial after 59 mins to avoid charges. Anyway, I assume there is a 14-day cooling-off period. Can anyone confirm this?

All contracts have a 7 day cooling off period when distance buying.

The period for changing your mind after initially agreeing to a contract is called a cooling-off period and comes under the Distance Selling Regulations. This legislation is administered by the National Consumer Agency. You have at least 7 days to change your mind.

The cooling-off period begins from when you enter into a service contract or when you receive the goods. The contract is not binding unless you receive written confirmation or confirmation in another durable form.

Although you are allowed to cancel the contract without any penalties during this cooling-off period, you will still have to pay for any phone and, or, broadband use with the service provider during this time.

The 7 working day period during which you can cancel without penalty applies to sales made over the phone/internet or by a salesperson calling to a consumer's home.

I'm on that package and have never been charged for going over 59min - here is a snapshot from one of my bills where I've exceeded that limit:

Apparently that is no longer a requirement.
