    Hi all,

I posted recently about building a utility room, we are now thinking of adding a bay window at the front of our home to made our living room a little bigger.

What are the planning regulations re bay windows. I know we do need it for the utility due to the size etc but i believe you need planning permission for the bay window.

yes you need planning. send a location map (Google map will do initially), a picture of the house and a second picture with bay window sketched over it. to your local planner and ask for feedback, they will advise if there happy and if you can then get a local arch/arch tech to put application together.

    Pefect,

I'm going to get some builders in to price the utility room and i'll get them to price the bay window as well so we have an idea and time to apply so all can be done at once.

many councils will not allow certain bay styles in rural areas.

That's fine we're in a town and I hope to speak to the planning section in the coming weeks to ask their advice. I'll also ask the local arch does he know anything of what the local council would allow and not allow. Its nothing massive really just something to increase the floor space in out living room.
