I was on the revenue VRT calculator today and it seems to over value the VRT.

When I enter a bmw 320d and get to body type the only option is an estate with no option for coupe. saloon etc.

When I enter the details of this car
    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/mint-2010-bmw-320-diesel-se-half-leather/6607117

it coming up as vrt costing €5000 but in the ad it says the vrt would be €3200

Is there any other way of checking VRT rather than ringing them up each time?

You need to put in 320d (E90)

I make it 3233 based on emissions if 128. Verify the emissions as per V5 document though.

Never trust what a seller says in an ad, you need to verify everything yourself.

Personally if I was interested in a car which the seller has said will cost €xxxx to clear and when doing the online check it comes in several thousand higher I'd use that as a big bargaining chip to reduce the price. Then you can pay the VRT and appeal it down to a realistic prices.

is there enough detail on the ad to calculate the vrt accurately?

this is the result i got with motorcheck.ie

VRT Payable On Used Cars Upon Import Into Ireland
    BMW 320 F30 D SE
4dr, Manual, Diesel, SALOON Not this vehicle? Registered
    February 2010Mileage
    109,000 mileCO2
    128 g/kmRevenue OMSP €22,871VRT Band 18%VRT Payable €4,116

Thats a €1000 difference than advertised.

    Is the motorcheck valuation accurate.

Its much easier to use as it lets you just enter the number plate

The car you are looking at is an E90 not a F30. F30 is the current model 3 Series.

I get around 3200 paid on mid 2010 reg date and 128g co2. If that co2 is correct (you need to check that against the V5 reg cert for the particular car), you can assume the vrt is in that range although may change alittle based on spec if its less than 4 years old.
