Looks like we're gonna have another Costa Coffee in town. Drove past Tesco in Ardkeen earlier and there's a sign up near where the car washing used to be done saying 'Costa Coffee coming soon'. There were builders and diggers etc there so work is underway. Wouldn't have thought there was much space there for a coffee shop but time will tell!

Probably a costa express (basically a glorified coffee machine) there popping up all over the UK at present.

I'd have assumed a coffee machine would be kept indoors in the shop itself not at the top of a car park?

In the UK there's a Costa cafe in nearly all large Tesco supermarkets

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,644 ✭✭✭sillysocks

I think it's probably a 'normal' coffee shop than those machines. It's not in the Tesco, it's at the edge of the car park and they've set up a container type site office, saw David Flynn can there so I'm guessing there's some building work happening.

Hadn't thought of that! Just saw a small David Flynn can parked beside it. Maybe they're doing the fit out or something - early days to be there for that though.

Frisby is more of a developer than a builder, I doubt he has any actual construction workers working for him.

It was the same when D.I.D was built up there.

There's already a cafe in Tesco Ardkeen, I cant imagine they'd be too happy with this.

Did he not build all those housing estates himself? I suppose might be keeping more to the development end of things also less people on the books as well so less pressure to get work.

On a related matter in these current times Tesco has said that the move is towards express or metro stores now. I guess the Lidl/Aldi factor/depression is the reason.

Supervalue/Musgrave group is nibbling at tesco's lead now but the Germans are still opening up stores as I speak:)

Also people are not going to the very large stores anymore as a shop takes too long.

There's a cafe in the Tesco Extra in Naas, and a Costa in the same centre. Similar in other ones I've seen. I doubt they'll care overly, even if they have a say.

Love the coffee in costa, (double espresso) but don't like the food. I've only had it once since the two stores in Waterford opened though.

I'd say your best bet would be to head into the one in town and have a word with the manager. Maybe ask them for an application form or something.

    Best of luck!

Its a fairly big one all the same !!!.

There must be good business at that way all the same. Not just next to tesco but also near Ardkeen hospital you will get a lot of people stoping there before they head to a appointment or something.

    Smart move all the same.

From the Sun so i won't trust anything said there.

If you won't to drink milk in your coffee just change to silm line milk like i do when i am in costa it has like 0.3g of fat per 100ML so in your small latte about 0.8 G of fat in it so its prob better for you in the long run then drinking a glass of coke a day.

What sugar is in a latte ?. Only if you add sugar that is ?

I have made 1000s of lattes in work over the years its hot milk, a bit froth on top and a shot of coffee

Its only bad for you when you start adding all the crap into it

I am referring to the article.

A latte every day? I don't need any newspaper to tell me that is not the best idea. One a week, fine, its a treat, drinking it every day is like eating fast food every day, occasionally its a treat, every day it just gets boring - and you get fat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,625 ✭✭✭wmpdd3

I hate milk in my coffee, but i don't see the difference between a latte and having a 500 ml glass of milk every day?
They give it to you without sugar right?

It's just Coffee and milk, if I could read the article it's probably talking about a latte with sugary cream, sugar and syrups.
