Transferring UPC account to housemate

Myself and another housemate are moving out in May or June. I'm in a contract with UPC til October. Cancellation fee, as we all know, is 200 quid.

I want to transfer the account to one of my housemates who'll be staying in the house. Is there any way of doing this without technically 'cancelling' and being lumbered with that ridiculous fee? It's not even as if we're cancelling, but handing over the account to another housemate. UPC's website says you *can* add another name to the account--in which case, can you swap the billing details to them then?

They gave me some stupid spiel about not allowing name changes on the account. Clearly just their greed: force people to take out new 12 month contracts. Changing billing details shouldn't be an issue though.

It might be best for you to move your account to your new address, even if it's just until October to see out the contract, and let your housemates get a new account at your old address.

Yeah that's what I've been thinking because the more I've looked into it the more it seems like they'll hit you with €200 cancellation fee to change payment details. Sneaky feckers.
