How to upload iPhoto library to the cloud?

    Hi,

    Just looking for some suggestions.

I would really like to have a backup of my iPhoto library in the cloud. I have it backed up to an external drive using Time Machine but I'd feel happier if I had a backup outside my home. I've been looking at both OneDrive and Google storage. Any ideas on which is better?

Also how do you actually upload the library to the cloud? The iPhoto library is a real mess when you look at it in Finder. Currently my totals 97GB which seems a bit excessive to be honest. Do I have to go through each folder individually and upload each one?

You could use a photosharing service like Flickr with the advantage you can view anywhere, on the web or on a phone.
iPhoto allows very good export facilities, you can export whole folders and set the viewing privacy levels to Public,Family and/or Friends or completely Private.
The free version offers ! Terrabyte of storage supported by advertising.
Dropbox and GoogleDrive offer paid for storage options but you would have to manually export all the photos out of iPhoto before uploading.

Perhaps you should actually go for a proper online back-up solution. I use Backblaze (http://www.backblaze.com/ ) exactly for that same reason. Unlimited storage for $5 a month. They are a really good company with a great reputation. Ex Apple guys. Basically you back up your complete PC or Mac (single or multiple drives) but you still have access to individual folders on that remote backup if necessary. Great solution.
