Ebay PayPal Dispute

The story is I got a sat box from a seller, excellent rating seller to be honest. The box was faulty, something with the tuner so we agreed send it back to the seller for replacement.

I really did pack the sat box carefully within the original box with bubble wrap and all. It was snug as a rug, better than I received it to be honest.

He is now saying it arrived broken, parts rattling inside it and to claim insurance off An Post. I sent the package as registered post valued at e100.

I am deeply skeptical of his claim due to the way I packed it but, I can't disclaim it either I suppose.

What are my options here? I've opened a PayPal dispute now but not sure what they would think really.

Thanks for reply. He's located in UK. Will have to ask post office tomorrow what the story is.

To get any claim off an post they need to examine it so it definitely needs to be sent back to you, PayPal are normally good with disputes anyway so I'd go that route myself

Paypal are now looking for proof of returned Shipping Documentation with the shipping date, the address to which the package was sent and a copy of shipping label that shows a post mark.

I sent the package by registered post with An Post and sent them the tracking number. What more can I do?

The seller is staying silent with them after admitting to me he collected the package and it was broke inside.

Did the seller send you the 'broken' box for you to progress with An Post?

When you put the tracking details in, does it say 'delivered'?

Contact them again withe the tracking number and a screenshot that the package was delivered plus a screenshot of the seller saying he received back the item

Was it registered post? If so, you've fulfilled your obligation and paypal will issue you a refund through the resolution centre.

Edit: Just seen it was. Enter the tracking number, it should suffice. The message you receive is automated and they just want as much info as possible before it's reviewed. You may want to contact paypal to confirm if they need more. Send them an email, maybe quote any reference you might have for the case, they usually get back to you withing a day.
Was the contact between you and the seller via the ebay mesage system? This can also be referred to in cases (might only be in cases where you open the dispute directly on ebay), and the sellers most recent message would appear to confirm receipt. Any other form of communication is neglected.
I don't think you should have any real problem, especially if the seller doesn't respond.

Thanks guys. I just rang PayPal there to explain the problem. They said they will read the messages on ebay (don't know how they have access to them) and get back to me in 24 hours. Hopefully they can sort it out.

Its no surprise that Paypal mainly rule in favour of buyer .

I know in this case you deserved it , but there are many cases where they rule against the seller without consultation .

Its well known at this stage that eBay and Paypal are all the one , and its also well known that eBay are doing nothing to help Irish sellers .

I have seen cases where eBay accounts have been blocked and Paypal accounts have been limited , after a dispute is opened .

So believe me , that eBay and Paypal can be ruthless to Irish sellers .

Anyway delighted you won , as I would think the seller was spoofing in your case .
