Ive seen many videos of police officers taking unnecessary actions against members of the public.

The victims were in no way abusive, disorderly or a threat to any officer.

What are peoples rights/laws towards defending yourself against a member of the police?

And do you know of any stories of the police taking unnecessary precautions ?

I grew up in the north with a distinct hatred and fear of the police..... That said, i also have learned, if a cop tells you to do something, your better off just fúckin doing it... No amount of arguing, struggling or fighting back will EVER go in anyone's favour but the cops.
There is no such thing as self defence from police.... Just shut the fúck up. The more docile you are the quicker you'll get to see your brief.

Agreed, theres nothing you can do in the way of self-defence just shut up and take it, It's the way things are now unfortunately. Talk about living in an oppressive system......

    hmmmm

maybe just record your encounter with them. Probably more wary with it on camara.

That said, ive often found the gardai pretty easy going, even when im in the wrong.

Very rare this will happen in Ireland.
You dont even need to think about it here.

The guards are usually sound enough, its the lads that couldnt get into the guards that are the problem

and did you record these incidents?
do you have any idea of how these recordings were edited?
or what kind of activity happened before or after the recording took place?

you really shouldnt believe everything you see on the internet......

What did you do to make a cop attack you?

If you attack a cop you will be ground up by the cogs of justice. Go listen to some bob Marley.

Best defense against the law is a lawyer not your fists. That and camera with the feed being saved real-time to a secure server wouldn't hurt. Assuming you're completely innocent, of course.

Study Krav-maga and become a lethal weapon. No one will then mess with you. Apart from the Cops, who will counter your Ju-Jinguyodojo with a right batonning and some severe arm twisting followed by a serving of moreish pepper. Compliance is your only man, there's more of them and they practice wrastling more than you or me. "Yes Officer, No Officer" is your best defence.

I've never had any problems with the Gardai, bad apples in every profession etc. Be polite, listen and do what you're told - don't go looking to be the next YouTube sensation and record a Garda asking for your tax disc. Alternatively start plotting your sw33t r3v3ng3 and see how far it gets you.

Best defense against the law is a lawyer...

The best first line of defence is knowing both your rights and the supporting legislation and being able to quote it.

Oh yeah, nothing a Guard likes better than a smart ar5e who is actually genuinely smarter than him.
They just love that and will instantly acquiesce to your knowledge of the law and apologise and send you on your merry way.

There is a difference between spouting off at a guard and using the law when you actually need to.

Sadly, not with some Guards there isn't.
And I'm not talking about "spouting" or being lippy either.

Well quoting the law to the guards and showing him the law on my phone has saved my neck on one occasion.

Watch Grand Theft Auto5 videos on youtube, well this thread is in AH afterall. Look for the one where the goon gets into the policecar to go along for the ride. The police took exception to it.
